We're so very lucky to live near the sea here. When I found this shell we were walking along Ravenglass beach (fabulous name, isn't it?) and I was surprised to find hundreds of empty shells strewn along the tide line. I carefully searched for one just the right size and knew right then and there I would get it cast as a memory to keep forever. This version has been enamelled by hand in the most beautiful shade of sky blue. Enamelling is an ancient art form whereby glass grains are applied to metal through extreme heat. Each item must undergo many cycles in a kiln for the glass to properly adhere to the metal and reveal its beautiful sparkling colours. Enamel colours will never fade, so this is a true heirloom piece.
