Lakes' Artists' Society Success!

I hope everyone has had a wonderful summer. For once I don't think UK residents can complain about the weather we've had, although some will still try no doubt! As I type we've just had a lovely few days of sunny autumn weather, so we walked up Rannerdale with my friend Laura and her foster dog Timber. We got some stunning views from the top of Loweswater, Buttermere and Crummock. It really isn't hard to find inspiration when you live so close to the Lake District. And yes, we know we are very lucky!

Lots of things have happened since I last wrote, namely that both of the oil paintings I entered into the Lakes' Artists' Society Exhibition sold! The first one to sell was 'Spring Snowdrops' and I was so happy when I received the e-mail to let me know it had gone. Imagine my surprise when towards the end of the exhibition my little portrait of two mice, 'Two In Hand', sold as well! I'm not sure customers realise just how happy it makes an artist when someone actually makes a purchase. Not only do we do a little happy dance, but it means we can continue making art. This is our job, and is no less important than a plumber or builder to those who appreciate it.

I'm now working on another still life, this time featuring a budgerigar (sneak peak above right). I'm currently debating whether or not to add a second to the painting; I never like to make it easy for myself!

Jewellery ready for Christmas!

Please forgive me for mentioning the C-word, but there are less than three months until the big day. Additionally, silver and gold prices are rising faster than a ferret up a drainpipe so you might like to consider doing your Christmas shopping early if you are thinking of buying jewellery for yourself or your loved ones!

One of my main jobs this summer was adding all of my handmade silver jewellery to the website. It takes an incredible amount of time to take photographs, write item descriptions and upload them all. In future I will do it in small batches so I don't completely lose my mind, but it had to be done. For the most part I was fuelled by biscuits and hot chocolate!

These are just some of the many shiny goodies available. Why not treat yourself or a loved one to some beautiful enamel and gemstone pieces? Clicking on a photo above will take you directly to the store. Plus, as a sneaky subscriber treat (and to make sure you're reading ALL of this haha), add AUTUMN10 to the discount code box in your basket and receive 10% off across the store until 31st October 2025!

I have lots more ideas in the works - the possibilities are truly endless when it comes to jewellery, so you will be hearing lots more from me. Below are two of the current projects on my bench. You can see lots more behind the scenes photos on Instagram @archer.terry.jewellery

Back at the Wheel

The pottery took a small hiatus during the summer. For some reason, which I still can't fathom, we just seemed to have a lot going on. Plus the weather was amazing so we tried to enjoy it as much as we could. Steve's back to throwing and I have finally started to glaze some of the pots I decorated with sculpted flowers (below). Fingers crossed they make it through the glaze firing intact or you will probably see a grown woman cry.

I hope you've enjoyed this little glimpse into our world. I'll be back soon with more news, but in the meantime make sure you take time to enjoy these beautiful autumn days.
