Mudfest 2025

Well, it's exciting times ahead for us!

This weekend we have our first pottery show. It's called 'Mudfest' and it happens at Ford Park, Ulverston, Cumbria, LA12 7JP from 17th-18th May, 10am-4pm.

Set in the grounds of Ford Park, this is the second year the pottery show has been running and we're very excited to be a part of it in its early days.

Being our first pottery show, we're also a little nervous. Steve has been doing extra kiln firings and I've been dealing with all of the tech. So far we've had to get two power packs, a card reader, and borrow a WiFi hotspot so that hopefully we'll be able to take money via card on the day! It used to be that Steve would ask me all the technological stuff, but as I've got older (albeit only 43!), I find I'm asking Steve's son about connecting all of these different devices - it happens to us all I guess!

We're also camping at Mudfest this year. Sadly we had to get rid of our beloved Toyota Hi-Ace van 'Apocalypto', so now we're back to camping in a tent. I must admit that I have probably been spoiled by camping in a van and I thought I'd never go back to a tent, but here we are! Luckily the strange but glorious weather we've been having is set to continue, so we won't have to deal with rain.

I've also been working on the website - I hope you like it! We've got a new logo and colour scheme among other things. There still are only a few items in the online shop, but I decided I would get all of the ceramics on there when we come back from the show.

My jewellery needs to be hallmarked before I can sell it, which should be happening in the next few months, and I'm hoping to get a couple of paintings into the Lakes' Artists' Exhibition in the summer. I'll also be looking at getting prints available, but with everything that's happening right now I can see that might be later on in the year!

The glorious weather means that it's been very hard to stay in our workshops. We've been on some beautiful walks, done lots of gardening, had a couple of barbecues, one shed rave, fallen off a seesaw, learned more than we ever want to know about glazing and gained a new family member (a genetically-challenged guinea pig named Cirrus). Let the madness continue! And if it all gets too much, we'll take a leaf out of Lily's book.

In the meantime, wish us luck at Mudfest - maybe we will see some of you there?
