On Saturday 24th May we had the pleasure of once again visiting the original Potfest in the Pens at Penrith. It's only about an hour away from us and we've been going for years. We're hoping that next year we'll be there as exhibitors!

We just wanted to highlight some of the stunning pottery we saw there this year so I asked several of the exhibitors if I could take photos and mention them here on our blog. Please click on a photo below which will take you strasight to their websites.

  1. Nancy Taylor Ceramics

I was sure that these amazing ceramics were slipcast, but they are hand built. Like, how??? They're gorgeous. I love the little fingerprint gestures she leaves unglazed on the exterior of some of her pots.

  1. Trevor Dyer Ceramics

Such a lovely bloke! He has a stunning range of glazes. We're just starting out on our glaze mixing odyssey so we can really appreciate the work that has gone into his. This was my favourite colour way. If I could make something as beautiful as this I think I'd be happy for the rest of my life.

  1. John Snocken Studio Pottery

John is definitely vying for the title of the nicest man in pottery. He was so encouraging of us newbies. I just love his ash glazes.

  1. Pippin Peacock

Pippin was so lovely! I fell in love with the little round jar in the bottom left of the photo with the white tiger on it. If anyone wants to buy it for me please feel free!. Haha. She worked as a character developer for Disney for four years, hence the awesome illustrations.

  1. Sophie Wootton Design

Sophie has a beautiful colour scheme - I love her pink and grey colour way. And her necklaces are so cute!

  1. Deloise

Another lady with an amazing colour palette. She was kind enough to recommend Stephen Murfitt's glazing book to me as a starting point to mix our own.

  1. Sarah Lawrence Ceramics

It was interesting to hear about Sarah's approach to glazing. None of her pots had the same glaze combination and yet they all looked cohesive. She obviously practices some kind of dark pottery magic!

  1. Rasa Eggerton Art

Rasa's glazes are simply stunning and I love the organic shapes of her pottery. She was very encouraging about our new venture.

  1. Burnt Crust Pottery

Luscious glazes on these pieces! I believe they are reduction fired - something which I would love to try eventually.

Website Update Banner

I'm pleased to say that our own ceramics are now available to purchase wherever you are in the world. That's quite a big step for two crazy people who just decided to start a pottery in November 2024 with no experience!

I've just spent quite a few days adding all of our stock to the website, so if you'd like something special for yourself or a loved one please check out our our online shop. I'll be adding new stock as we make it so there will always be something new to see.

I hope you enjoyed this mini-adventure around Potfest in the Pens Spring 2025. Potfest have several ceramics fairs up and down the country; there are two more in Penrith this year alone. Why not check out the Potfest website to find your local show?
